Why Dental Malpractice Lawyers Work On Contingency

June 7, 2011.

Yes, lawyers can be very expensive. Especially in the field of medical and dental malpractice.

Why? Because there is a lot of money at stake. Successfully litigated cases can come with high pay-outs for the victims. And if your dental malpractice lawyer worked for your on contingency, he will be getting a share of that award in lieu of charging you a fee that you would have to pay out of pocket. That of course bears a risk for the lawyer, because if the case is lost, he won’t get paid a dime.

According to the statistics, about 10,000 cases of dental malpractice are being reported in the United States each year. However, that number is not indicative of how many people actually become victims of a dentist’s misconduct of negligence. The majority will never come forward, because they are either not aware of their rights or they fear that they won’t be able to pay for a dental malpractice lawyer. But as we learned earlier, most lawyers do offer contingency deals, which means there is virtually no cost and no risks involved for the victims.

Another problem is the fact that victims don’t act timely. The eligibility to come forward and file a claim is restricted under the statute of limitations. It is therefore of paramount importance to contact a dental malpractice lawyer immediately after the incident occurred.

Again, all it takes is finding out which law-firms work on contingency. And most of them do these days. Then ask for a free consultation. Meet with your lawyer and discuss your case without any fear, because it doesn’t cost you anything. And if the decision is to go ahead and file a claim, you will either receive a monetary award of which your lawyer gets a certain share, or you and your lawyer won’t get anything. However, either way, there are not out of pocket costs involved for you.
