Varied uses of Compression Socks

Compression socks are worn by people in order to provide a compression on a gradient basis from the leg to the foot. When we get such stockings without a prescription, this is called the support.

These stockings can also be customized for each individual, in order to have the exact size and fitting as it might cause some clot or increased pressure, when it is too tight. There are three main styles of stockings, which include the knee high type, thigh high type and the pantyhose type. Compression levels for the customized socks will be 18 to >50 mm Hg. Lipodermatosclerosis, varicose veins, edema, lymphedema re the some of the reasons for using the compression socks. Thus the compression socks provide pressure at various degrees and this helps in reducing the circulatory problems. This includes problems like edema and thrombosis. In the normal stockings, the material will not be of the elastic type but in these compression socks elastic is used.

This applies proper pressure on the leg, foot and ankle. They are very tight at the ankle region. The exact mechanism by which it works is as follows – The surface veins, muscles and arteries when contracted leads to more pressure in the arteries. Thus more and more blood is carried to the heart. To the feet, there is no excess blood circulation. Thus embolism, edema and thrombosis are prevented. Once can purchase either the anti embolism stocking or the compression socks of the gradient type. To provide more support to the drainage function in the legs, anti embolism socks called the T.E.D socks can be used. The circulation of blood and lymph are good in people using anti embolism socks. We are able to get enormous designs of socks, which have varying colors, styles, difference in size and opacities.
