There are many many different marathons being run throughout New York City during the year. Most are dome in the spring and summer as it is not so pleasant to run in the cold and snow.

A marathon is 26 and people who train to run in one are very motivated people because it takes a lot of dedication to be able to keep to the schedule of training and run the hours needed to get in shape enough to do the whole run. Many people opt for the half marathon which is 13.1 miles (nothing to sneeze at either.) There is intensive training that must be done way in advance of the marathon in order to make it. In certain marathons, not everyone can run. You need to qualify either by being picked or other ways. In the NYC marathon, you can qualify if you have a certain amount of running experience, if you make a large donation and/or if you were denied entry for the last three years in a row.

Regardless of how you get in, there is a lot of training and commitment that needs to be made. It is best to hire a trainer or join a training program which will guide you towards your goal. You are not supposed to run every day as you can burn yourself out (physically and mentally.) You will need to follow a schedule for the amount to run each week and when to up your mileage.

You can do your training either at home, in the gym or with a trainer. If you choose to run at home, you will want to buy one of the best treadmills for sale to make sure it lasts through the rigorous training. It is also good to vary the scenery so you can try running outside as well sometimes. Also, golds gym equipment is useful for your training.
