These hats as the name suggests clearly, were used by the pilots in early days, when aeroplanes had open cockpits. These hats saved the pilots from the severe cold up in the sky, while flying. Then came the closed cockpits planes, and aviator hats were no longer needed by the pilots. They are also known as aviator pilot hats.
When aviator hats, were no more used by the aviators, they took a different way. They made its way in the world of fashion and style, and did pretty good. Today, an aviator hat is bound to be found in the closet of most men and women who have an affinity towards the latest fads and trends.
